Now that I am all caught up on my posts I have to tell you about my last experience clothes shopping.

Oh my goodness! It was so traumatizing! First I should tell you that I’m having a hard time with this whole weight gain thing. Not that I have ever been really skinny but I’ve been fortunate enough to have pretty good genes that I haven’t had to watch my weight very carefully. Anyway, last summer I got into this big health kick and started working out at the gym and everything and had lots about 10 pounds and was looking great for my wedding last October. I was still wanting to build more muscle, tone up and slim down a little but the holidays threw me off and I had been inconsistent at best in my eating habits and gym routine. However, I still had the “losing weight” mind set and was already a little self conscious of my little belly pooch (I’ve never had a flat stomach!). So with that said, here’s my story.

When I got pregnant, I was fortunate enough to get a lot of clothes from a couple friends so I really didn’t need much but they were pregnant at different times of the year from me so I needed some summer stuff. I had already been to Motherhood Maternity once before and knew what I wanted to get. The saleswomen there were overly helpful and I ended up with a room FULL of clothes to try on. Also in the room (which I’m starting to guess is a regular thing for their stores) are tank tops, sleeping bras, and also a pillow belt thing. I had already tried on tanks and bras and didn’t know what the pillow was for so I just ignored that stuff.

After a couple of shirts I had my mother-in-law come in the room instead of having to open the door for every outfit. She told me what the pillow was for so I tried it on and stretched the shirt over it. I looked in the mirror and IMMEDIATELY took it off! I was in shock at how big I was going to get! It was terrible! I hated it. I even told my mother-in-law, “Nevermind, I changed my mind. I don’t want to do this anymore!”

Of course everyone comments on how cute the “baby bump” is and all I can think of is how terrible it is! Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited to be a mom and all but I am not excited to be getting bigger. Not at all; even if it is for a good reason. I just keep thinking about how hard I am going to have to work to get it to go away afterwards! Anyone else out there feel the same way? I’m guessing yes, ’cause I am sure I am not alone.

Well, I just had to share this story because I find it funny and terrifying all at the same time. Hope you got some entertainment out of it too!
