If you follow us on Facebook, you may have noticed some behind the scenes photos during our visit from CreativeLive. The always talented production crew came here to our studio in Bend, Oregon to preshoot several of the segments that are a part of Julia’s upcoming course, “Studio Systems: A Photography Business Bootcamp.” As we gear up for the live kick-off, Oct. 5, 6 & 7, we thought it would be fun to share a few behind the scenes, and some of the finished, edited images from the newborn session that was filmed right here and will air on October 9 on CreativeLive!

But first, a little background:

For two days, CreativeLive filmed seven of the 26 lessons right here in the studio. For those of you who love the peeks of the studio that we share now and then, during bootcamp you will get a close-up view of our everyday work surroundings and systems as Julia peels back the layers of her studio wide open. Now, if you’ve seen Julia on CreativeLive before, you’ve watched her work with newborns in a live setting. However, unless you’ve mentored here with Julia or are one of our lovely clients, you’ve never had the opportunity to watch her work with a newborn rLight here in her very own studio. It’s going to be a treat and a unique, authentic learning opportunity. Julia will also sit down with real clients for an in-person sales session, again filmed right here in her studio — that’s something that CreativeLive has never done before!

Really. Bootcamp is going to rock!

Now onto the baby:

Little baby Henry was the star of the show during this beautiful family’s session, although his big sister Abbigail stole our hearts the moment she walked through the door. Take one look at the final images and you’ll know why! We walked them through what every client experiences when they come for a newborn session. When families first arrive we take extra care to welcome them into our space. We help to get them cozy and comfy in the nursery where mom can have some peace and quiet to feed baby one more time before the session begins, what we like to call getting them “milk drunk.” This is a precious time we have with the family when we also like to revisit the goals for the session. You’ll get to see this entire process, including session set-up and look/prop selection when you watch Bootcamp.

You’ll also get to watch Julia photograph several beanbag, nighty-night, wrapped, sibling and family poses, again right here in her studio.
